"If the living are able to donate, the dead are even more so; no harm will afflict the Cadaver (deceased donor) if the heart, kidneys, eyes or arteries are taken to be put to good use in a living person; this is indeed charity."

Deceased Organ Donation: A Supreme act of altruism for the benefit of society and mankind
In Pakistan an estimated 50,000 people die each year due to End Stage Organ Failure. This figure includes 15000 patients of kidney failure, 10,000 of liver and 6,500 of heart. The main reason in the majority of these cases is want of organ donors.
While there is hope for patients with kidney failure in terms of living donors, the answer for patients with End Stage liver, heart or pancreas failures are Deceased Donor Organs or Cadaver donor. The Islamic Code of Medical Ethics which resulted from the First International Conference on Islamic Medicine in Kuwait in January 1981 strongly sanctioned organ donation.
Transplantation from deceased/cadaver donors are being performed in many Muslim countries. The need of the hour is thus to publicize these approvals in the general public and clergy at large, and to expedite legislation to make Deceased Organ Donation in Pakistan a reality.
